Wells Fargo releases report on bogus fraud scheme

Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC WFCWells Fargo& Co56. 35-0. 23% Created with Highstock 4. 2. 6 ) has publicly released the results of an investigation conducted by its independent directors to expose the company's widespread misconduct.

Over a period of years, the company's employees created more than 2 million fake accounts in the names of actual customers to increase the banks fee income and meet internal sales goals. When the crime was discovered, the immediate fallout forced the resignation of then-CEO John Stumpf and led to the ouster of retail banking chief Carrie Tolstedt. Now the company has decided to pay back 75 million US dollars that the two had received as compensation.

I thought of the directors' investigation, which was assisted by an outside firm. The bank tried to find out why and how the forgery concession came about in the first place and why it became so astonishingly high. The group conducted the investigation, conducted hundreds of interviews and found, among other things, that Tolstedt and Stumpf were not interested in changing the company's sales structure or acknowledging their potential problems, Consumerist reported.

What was discovered?

Basically, the 113-page report shows that the company had a flawed culture that combined with its system of managing and measuring performance to encourage cheating. The opening section set the issue.

The primary cause of sales practice failures was the distortion of Community Bank's sales culture and performance management system, which, combined with aggressive sales management, put pressure on employees to sell unwanted or unneeded products to customers. , To open unauthorized accounts.

In addition, the investigation showed that the bank's decentralized corporate structure gave too much autonomy to the senior leadership of its community banking segment. "Community bank leadership resisted and prevented oversight or supervision. and nature of the problem.", wrote the investigators.

That's a pretty damning finding, and it takes some blame away from the rank-and-file employees who faked the accounts and put it squarely on management. Stumpf, in particular, may have known about the fraudulent practices for nearly a decade, but he consistently minimized concerns and tried to categorize it as a problem limited to a few bad employees.

What happens next?

The report outlined all the actions taken since the inaction was uncovered. This includes some management changes, of course, but they go deeper than that.

Wells Fargo replaced and reorganized community bank leadership. It also eliminated sales targets and reformed incentive compensation. Accelerating centralization of tax functions. The board separated the roles of president and CEO, strengthened the charters of board committees, and established regular reporting to the board through the new Office of Ethics, Oversight and Integrity.

The company also terminated five senior executives for cause and imposed warnings, clawbacks and compensation adjustments on the executives totaling more than $180 million. For the public, it will likely be a matter of time rather than concrete action before consumers trust the bank again.

What is actually important when finding a name for a company?? Who has to like the name? And should it communicate what you do? Does it do a fantasy name? You must have asked yourself all these questions before clicking on the link to this text. In the following lines I will try to give you some answers to help you find the best business name for your company.

1. Naming for business: Choose a business name you're comfortable with yourself

Yes, that's right. You yourself. Because you probably have to get this name across your lips the most of all people on this planet.

And: you will also hear it the most.

So if you get an embarrassing shiver down your spine every time you say your firm name, you've done something wrong in the naming process.

2. When finding a name, make sure it is easy to use

There are company names that sound really cool. Puns that elicit tears of emotion in awe of the inventor.

These names are unfortunately not at all suitable to be passed on.

Naming companies: 8 tips for the perfect sound and the best effect

Company name finding tip: When choosing a name, make sure that it can be clearly understood and, above all, that its spelling leaves no questions unanswered.

3. Do not violate any rights with your company name

Infringing trademark rights is quicker than you think. From our experience over 90% of the name ideas for enterprises fail because of already existing registrations.

So if you have an idea, it's best to check it immediately by searching the German Patent and Trademark Office (dpma). The dpma research is one of the name developer's best friends.

Naming companies: 8 tips for the perfect sound and the best effect

The sooner you find out whether you could get into trouble with a business name because someone else has already had the same idea, the better. Believe me: this will save you a lot of time and perhaps avoid a lot of unnecessary effort.

On this topic, it may be advisable to consult a trademark attorney. For example, if your preferred name is already taken, but the registering entity belongs to a completely different industry.

4. Tell a story with your company name

"What does your company name actually mean?" – Whose company is not called "Horst Mueller insurance agency" knows this question.

Clear. People love stories. Storytelling is on everyone's lips for a reason.

So give them. And a memorable one at that. By enriching the euphony of your company name with meaning and possibilities for appropriate associations. These can be variations of technical terms from your field, reinterpretations or easily understandable (!) Be a play on words.

There are many ways to embed the purpose or benefit of a company or product into a good company name.

Company name finding tip: Think about how your company name and what your company does can be translated into a meaningful story, at least on demand.

5. Choose a company name that works well on all channels

Who knows what the marketing future will bring?? Will podcasts still be the hot shit 4 years from now? Or will we soon be talking about completely different ways of addressing target groups? Text experiences a renaissance?

Be prepared for anything by ensuring that your company name

  • is easy to pronounce
  • and is easy to read.

Naming companies: 8 tips for the perfect sound and the best effect

Business name-finding tip: Show your ideas to people who don't know them yet. Best of all, they belong to the target group. Then ask them to read out loud or pronounce the company name. Can they pronounce it the way you want them to pronounce it? Pay attention to the reactions as well

6. Naming businesses: Keep your feet on the ground

HVAC Mechanics sounds cool and is catchy. But when it's a 3-person heating, ventilation and plumbing company behind it, this misdirection quickly creates unintentional comedy. Because the associations you have with a name like this tend to fit a corporation, not a small craft business.

The company name must fit both the size of your company and the purpose of your company.

Business name finding tip: As part of the name finding process, check carefully to see if you are overshooting the mark with your business name. You can see this well in your test from point 5 based on responses.

7. Make sure it is unique

People will google your company name. That is for sure.

So – if possible – make sure that in the search results it is immediately clear which result is to be assigned to you.

"Ilse Krampmeyer Einrichtungs-Agentur" should therefore – apart from the trademark component – not become IKEA.

Business name-finding tip: Google your name idea and see how much competition you face in search results.

8. Do not use a name generator

Let's face it. How should a generic tool assess you and your company identity in order to make a suitable company name out of it? Correct: not at all.

For name generators do nothing other than either present tagged names that someone has thought up and stockpiled, or combine previously queried keywords with other terms.

Looking for the needle in the company name haystack.

9. Get help

It's hard to look at the picture you're standing in. It's quite possible that you'll quickly run up against limits when it comes to inventing your own company name.

It's good if you then have creative minds at your side who can provide impetus and take a close look at your subject from the outside. Those like us, for example.

Content& Code has experience with developing business names. Energy brands, coffee machines or audio start-ups: we'll find a name for what you do that you can proudly communicate with.

Dreaming together as a couple can be one of the most exciting and uplifting conversations you can have! Wasn't this a big part of what you did when you first started dating?

Dreaming of your future family, a future career change, a future house or anything in the future, you can even eliminate some of today's burdens.

Dreaming together is one of the ways you reaffirm your commitment to each other and to the future. If you can't dream about the future, you won't have a future together. Think about it!

Dreaming together requires you to use your imagination, speculate and consider options about how your life together will change, evolve and deepen over the years.

Why is it important?

It will help you to remain open to your own practical, emotional and spiritual needs and those of your partner. It will also help you to speculate about possibilities. You can experiment together with ideas for activities and commitments that are important to you. At the same time unite the vision of your future as a couple.

How can you create dreams together that will bring you closer?

When you dream together, you grow together, not apart, because you are both headed for the same future. There are 3 simple but essential ways to do this.

1. Have conversations about your dreams

By having a conversation, you can dive deeper into why certain dreams are so important to you. Maybe your family moved around a lot growing up and was always renting. For you, buying a home and staying in a preferred community is at the top of your list of priorities. But maybe your partner was "stuck" forever in a small town he couldn't wait to leave, and his dream is to move without the "burden" of ownership. Can you both agree on this? Or do you need to find a middle ground that meets both of your needs?

You will check the values. You'll be thinking about both of your career options. They are linked to other areas such as health, children, spirituality, finances, travel, etc. think.

2. Make the dreams alive and real

Visuals stick to your brain better than words do. Draw, create a collage, vividly describe what achieving your dream will look like, find pictures. Whatever it takes to make your dreams as alive as possible.

Do you want to buy a house together? Start searching the market around you. Think curb

Appeal and how much work you both are willing to do on the farm. Talk about what kind of layouts you want. Collect pictures of possible locations, look for paint samples, have a picture of your dream home somewhere you can see it every day.

Now, wanting a house is one thing, finding common ground and thinking about the work a house must hold is quite another. Maybe you both like an older home with "character". This will be the living dream. But if neither of you are handy, you will need to hire people to help you maintain an older home. That would be the realistic part.

3. Create a detailed plan with deadlines by which you can act

For example, if one of your dreams is to go on a cruise for your vacation next year, not only look at which cruise, itinerary and cruise line you want, but also save a fixed amount every paycheck. You will be surprised how you can save by doing without something small.

One couple I know always wanted a vacation in Europe, but felt they could never afford it. We talked about it and when I noticed they both smoked, I asked them how much they spend on cigarettes each month. We did the math, and to their surprise, they found that what they spend on cigarettes would be more than enough for their dream trip. This gave them the willpower to quit smoking and save money instead. A year later they sent me a card from Italy where they spent the time of their lives!

Your dreams need action to come true. Start dreaming together with your spouse today!

Mathematics study experiences: Mathematicians can do everything

"Mathematicians can do everything!"This is at least the experience Bettina, Senior Project Manager at Mentorium, has had in her studies and career.

Bettina studied mathematics herself and got her PhD. Why she lost her hearing and sight in her studies, what horses have to do with the study of mathematics and what the understanding of mathematical correlations can trigger, you will learn in this interview about her mathematics study experiences.

If you're already studying math, you may be able to relate to some of Bettina's experiences. If you're still deciding whether studying mathematics is right for you, this interview will give you valuable insight into the study of mathematics and the subsequent career opportunities for mathematicians.

With puzzles to mathematics

Liane: Hello Bettina and welcome to mathematics study tips. I would like to talk to you today about your experiences in your studies and career. Introduce yourself briefly to my readers.

Bettina: Hi Liane, I am 32 and live with my husband and my daughter in Berlin. I studied mathematics with a minor in psychology at the TU Darmstadt. After that I did my PhD in applied mathematics. Before I went to Mentorium, I worked for a software company for some time.

Liane: Mathematics polarizes – some people love mathematics, others hate it. You surely belong to the first group. Why exactly did you study mathematics? What do you love most about her?

Bettina: I had a great math teacher in high school who gave us real-world brainteasers every now and then. These problems did not let me go until I had solved them. I could forget everything around me. That's why I set my mind to study math at that time.

Being good at school math is not enough

Liane: Mathematics is one of the courses with a very high dropout rate. How did you experience this during your studies? Why do you think so many students drop out of math programs?

Bettina: Yes, I have also had a few people drop out of their studies in between. I think it's because it's not enough to be good at math in school, you have to be willing to put in a lot of passion, time and perseverance.

Liane: School mathematics does not have much in common with university mathematics as it is taught in mathematics studies. Was this clear to you before you started your studies?? If so, how did you prepare for your studies?? If not, how did you experience the change from school math to university math?

Bettina: That's right. In the lecture, we always spent a few minutes repeating the mathematics from school and then we really got down to business. It's hard to hear and see. A small idea had, as already mentioned, already given me my math teacher. Therefore, I am not blindsided.

Hard to accept: Some things you may never understand

Liane: What was your biggest hurdle during your studies and how did you overcome it??

Bettina: My biggest hurdle was actually my own claim. You can't study math with the claim to understand everything. Sometimes contexts become clear only 2 semesters later and some things you may never understand. Very helpful were the office hours, where you can discuss the tasks with tutors and fellow students. But it was also very important to clear my head in the meantime so that I could get back on track. I have then always gone for a ride.

Liane: What did you enjoy most in your mathematics studies and why??

Bettina: This may sound strange, but there's something quite wonderful about a math problem solved or suddenly understanding a mathematical context!

Persistence and perseverance through your studies

Liane: Many of my readers are interested in studying mathematics and often ask themselves whether they will be able to complete their studies. What advice do you have for prospective students? What do you think they should have to be successful in their studies?

Bettina: You don't always have to have had great grades in math at school, what's important is a willingness to tackle tasks yourself and not let up until you've done it.

Internships for more insight into career choice

Liane: About the career opportunities for mathematicians still prevails a rather one-sided picture. Most people think you can't do much with a degree in math after graduation. How was it for you? When did you first look into career opportunities for mathematicians? What options came to mind for you and why?

Bettina: I did some internships before the diploma thesis. One I did in applied research at a Max Planck Institute, one at an automotive company and one at a bank, so very different things. This helped me a lot to orientate myself. Actuarial and financial mathematics are z.B. super exciting and certainly offer great career opportunities, but I personally like more the directions of technology, research and education.

From Software Support to Senior Project Manager

Liane: After graduation you were employed by a software company. So you've probably covered the technical direction? What tasks did you have there and how did you benefit from your mathematical education in the process?

Bettina: Exactly, I did technical support and sales for a software that uses mathematics to simulate the behavior of physical systems. This is what companies use z. B. To optimize vehicles, machines or buildings.

Liane: Today you work as a "Senior Project Manager" at Mentorium. Why did you decide to become a project manager?? Which activities belong to your area of responsibility?

Bettina: I chose it because I was inspired by the goals and values of Mentorium, which is to help students overcome their fear of math and statistics by providing very high quality and customized math tutoring and coaching. In addition to quality assurance and recruiting lecturers, my tasks also include communication with customers and the continuous development of our services.

From the everyday working life of a mathematician with a doctorate degree

Liane: Please describe to my readers a typical day in your professional life.

Bettina: A typical day might look like this: I first answer incoming customer requests and make important phone calls. Then I conduct an online job interview with a potential lecturer or draft texts for z.B. New websites or articles. Communication with partners and, of course, my colleagues is also part of everyday work, so that we can implement new ideas to further develop our processes and services as quickly as possible.

Liane: What do you enjoy most about your job??

Bettina: What I enjoy most is seeing how my previous experience and mathematical know-how contribute to the success of the company.

Mathematics study also in retrospect first choice

Liane: Looking back, what value do your studies and doctorate have for you?? With your current knowledge, would you choose to study mathematics and do a PhD again??

Bettina: Yes, I would immediately study math again. Today, I would look for a working student job early in my studies, where I can apply what I have learned, but also to get an insight into the free economy at an earlier stage. As a mathematician, you know very little that can be applied concretely, but you have the gift of being able to familiarize yourself with any subject in no time at all. That's why I always say

My doctorate was quite a challenge, as it requires an enormous amount of independence and stamina, but I would not want to miss this experience.

Liane: Dear Bettina, it was a pleasure for me. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences from your math studies, doctorate, and jobs!

Conclusion

What should you take away from Bettina's mathematics study experience??

Bettina also had ups and downs in her studies. The following tips, derived from the interview, are for you to take with you on your way through your mathematics studies:

  • Test with brainteasers whether you can muster enough passion to get to the bottom of things.
  • Accept that you will not necessarily understand everything immediately and that some things will never be understood.
  • Gain regular distance through hobbies before you get too involved in math problems.
  • Enjoy the pleasure you can get from understanding mathematical relationships.
  • Studying math is like running a marathon. Above all, you need stamina.
  • Prepare yourself for your future professional life through internships or working student jobs, even in the early stages of your studies.

Even if the study of mathematics is not the easiest study and seems to be far away from the practice, you will acquire valuable meta-skills, which will enable you to acquire everything in a short time, which you will need later in your profession.

Whether you're into nature or adventure, Niagara Falls is the perfect backdrop for a family trip. There is a lot to see, so we have selected the best options for you – have fun!

Niagara Falls with kids: 11 best things to do

Visit Niagara Falls | © VV Nincic

You probably already know what to see and do in Niagara Falls, but do you know how to make your visit work for the little ones? Niagara Falls is a unique natural setting. If adults are fascinated by them, children are not far behind, and it is not uncommon to see them under the spell of falling water.

In addition, various attractions and recreation centers have been built around the falls to make a visit to this natural park an unforgettable experience. Of course, many of these attractions are specifically for children and teens: we detail them for you so you can plan your trip.

Whatever vacation you're planning with your kids, get ready for an unforgettable getaway.

1. Sail with the cruise ship Maid of the Mist or the Hornblower and you will be thrilled.

Niagara Falls with kids: 11 best things to do

Both cruises follow the same route, with the Maid of the Mist departing from the American side and the Hornblower from the Canadian side. These are very handy, because in the twenty minutes it takes to get so close to the falls that you not only stand open-mouthed in front of the grandiose spectacle, but also get wet.

Kids (and not so kids) have a great time. Both cruises have multiple decks and indoor spaces, so you can enjoy the show even if the weather is bad. In any case, it's not a bad idea to change clothes to avoid catching a cold.

2. Take the kids to the Cave of the Winds and let them marvel at the elevator

Niagara Falls with kids: 11 best things to do

There are many places where the view of Niagara Falls is breathtaking, but at the bottom of the river there is one in particular: the Cave of the Winds. If you book this tour, either as part of an organized tour or on your own, kids will ride an elevator to a platform that offers one of the most breathtaking views of the falls.

Be warned: the waterfalls are above you, so you will get wet – but of course that will only add to the fun for the little ones.

3. Take one of the state park hikes to enjoy the breathtaking scenery

Niagara Falls with kids: 11 best things to do

If your kids love being in nature, this is the tour for you. Whirlpool State Park offers a breathtaking view of the falls. The climb to the top is a bit strenuous, but worth it, and there's room at the top of the park for a picnic overlooking the Niagara River – not to be missed!

No need to book tickets or pay an extra fee – just follow the marked trails at your little ones' pace to picnic areas and viewpoints.

4. In Bird Kingdom, a bird paradise, they can learn through play.

Niagara Falls with kids: 11 best things to do

Bird Kigdom is one of the most famous attractions in Niagara, which is not surprising, since it is the largest free-flying aviary in the world. Yes, that's right: a huge building set up for free-flying birds.

The visit includes an exhibit about Niagara Falls and birds, but the most popular part is the part where you can get up close to the animals – it's very exciting! Kids love holding parrots and macaws or seeing other animals up close like snakes, turtles or even bearded dragons. If you do a little research beforehand, you can explain to the kids what animals they'll see, and the visit will not only be entertaining, but educational as well.

5. Who said anything about fear? For the bravest: the zip line!

Niagara Falls with kids: 11 best things to do

We've all felt that adrenaline rush of riding a zipline and not touching the ground, haven't we? Imagine the zipline going down the spectacular descent to Niagara Falls at 70 mph – an experience you won't forget!

The zipline is suitable for children over the age of seven, but they must be accompanied by an adult until the age of thirteen. Look forward to it? Tickets can be purchased at the ticket booth at the base of Clifton Hill and cost about €50 per person.

6. Walk together along Clifton Hill, a unique street

Niagara Falls with kids: 11 best things to do

Clifton Hill is not for nothing called "the most famous amusement street in the world" known for: It's an amusement park just ten minutes from the falls. Kids will have a blast with the haunted houses, dinosaur-themed miniature golf course, and the fifty-four-foot Ferris wheel, from which you can see all the way to Ontario on a clear day!

Whatever your little ones like, there's plenty to explore at Clifton Hill. For the adults, there are also gift stores and museums for the curious: the Guinness World Records Museum, Ripley's Museum and the 4D Theatre of Oddities. A complete and ideal plan if you choose the two-day Niagara Falls tour instead of a day trip.

7. Take them to lunch at the Rainforest Cafe, which is popular with the little ones

Niagara Falls with kids: 11 best things to do

We all know that food can be a tricky business when traveling with kids, but don't worry, there's a very diverse dining scene in Clifton Hill too. While it never hurts to bring a snack or have your kids' favorite snack on hand, there's everything from fast food to fine dining in Clifton Hill.

And if you want to experience something as well as eat, visit the Rainforest Cafe: a themed restaurant whose doors open up to the rainforest. Inside, there is a tropical atmosphere with vegetation, animals, ambient sounds and occasional thunderstorms. You also have plenty of options when it comes to dining in Niagara Falls – check them out before you visit the park!

8. Make sure they take a souvenir of the view home with them

Niagara Falls with kids: 11 best things to do

Heights have never been this close: in just fifty-two seconds, the Skylon Tower's elevator will take you to the top floor, which. 230 meters high is. And that's not all, because there's a restaurant on a revolving floor, so you won't miss a thing while you dine. If you want to book a helicopter tour of Niagara Falls, you can even include lunch in the tower.

From the observation deck, you can see not only the falls, but also sweeping views of the United States and Canada. Highly recommended at the end of the day when the city lights begin to glow – breathtaking!

9. If butterflies are your thing. you will love it!

Niagara Falls with kids: 11 best things to do

Nine kilometers north of Niagara Falls is the Butterfly Conservatory, where a variety of species fly on forty acres. You can observe over two thousand butterflies from sixty different tropical species.

If you want the kids to have the full experience, I recommend dressing in bright colors on this day, as the butterflies tend to be attracted to these colors and will perch on the poles so the little ones can observe them close up.

10. walk through Niagara on the Lake: the pearl of the region

Niagara Falls with kids: 11 best things to do

For a quiet getaway with the little ones, there's a town just north of the falls that provides the perfect backdrop. It's called Niagara on the Lake, after the lake that overlooks it, and is surrounded by houses that are a joy to wander through.

In this small town, kids can run around in a more relaxed cultural and natural environment than the one that has formed around Niagara Falls. The landscape of the small town is perfect for a trip with the family.

11. Enjoy fireworks at the end of the day

Niagara Falls with kids: 11 best things to do

It goes without saying: On Fridays, Saturdays and holidays, the unique backdrop of Niagara Falls is made even more special with a fireworks display.

Even if the view from Skylon Tower is privileged, you can fully enjoy the fireworks at the foot of the falls. A treat for the senses, for kids and adults alike, and a perfect way to end the visit.

Tips for organizing your trip to the falls with kids

Niagara Falls with kids: 11 best things to do

Plan your trip in advance

It's not always easy to coordinate the preferences of the whole family, especially if you're traveling with kids, but as you've seen, Niagara Falls offers a wealth of attractions. It can be quite an experience to prepare the trip together, so the little ones can be involved in the preparations and enjoy it in advance. This way you can all choose what you like best and you won't miss anything that interests you. If you plan the trip together with the children, you will make the most of it!

Explain what you will see

To make the most of it, you can give the kids a framework to make the most of their trip. You could z. B. Watch the Pixar movie Up and get their excitement about Niagara Falls (even though Pixar didn't base the movie on Niagara Falls, it's a good introduction for them) or, if your kids are a little older, you could use Pirates of the Caribbean.

Buy tickets in advance

The most important thing is to book your Niagara Falls tour in advance from New York or elsewhere. And if you're already there, whether it's for dinner at Skylon Tower or a cruise on the Maid of the Mist, it's best to book or get tickets in advance: that way you'll avoid queues or being left on the spot without a plan and having to improvise, which can be very frustrating, especially if the little ones have already made up their minds. A lot of fun!

Make sure they wear appropriate clothing and shoes

A visit to Niagara Falls offers a lot of variety for both children and adults, but for children it is even more important to wear comfortable clothes so that they can fully enjoy themselves.

It can contribute to a memorable experience to equip the little ones so that they have something dry in case they get wet at the falls (bring an extra pair of socks), and that when you go to the parks they can walk comfortably (no new shoes during the day so they don't get chafed on the walk).

Overtime is not always paid off or paid out without further ado in the event of dismissal. We explain what happens to overtime worked when the employment relationship is terminated and how you can assert your claims.

Overtime in the event of termination: You are entitled to this

1. Do I still have to work overtime after termination??

Until the end of the employment relationship, your employer can in principle still instruct you to work overtime. However, this only applies if the labor or collective agreement or a company agreement obligates you to work overtime. Otherwise, overtime must be worked only in emergency situations, z. B. In the event of a system-critical IT emergency or flooding at the plant.

2. Must overtime always be paid?

Overtime must generally be compensated. Employees should actively demand payment after termination at the latest.

However, there are exceptions in which no wage can be demanded for overtime work. These are essentially the following:

Agreements exclude overtime pay

For the remuneration of overtime, the regulations of the respective labor or collective agreement or the company agreement must first be consulted. Here, it is usually determined whether and how overtime is remunerated.

Some labor or collective agreements restrict or exclude overtime pay. However, it is worth taking a closer look here, because some of these clauses are invalid.

Often, for example, a clause is included according to which any overtime should be compensated with the normal salary, d.h. that payment for overtime should not be made at all. Such compensation clauses sometimes fail because of the provisions of the German Civil Code on general terms and conditions (AGB) in § 305 ff. BGB.

Overtime pay may only be excluded "across the board" if the provision in the employment contract makes it clear which work activities are covered by the clause and are therefore not specially remunerated. In addition, total compensation per hour must not fall below the legal minimum wage.

In contrast, a regulation that only contains a clearly limited lump-sum compensation is permissible and effective. It is conceivable, for example, that overtime of up to 10% of the weekly working hours is compensated with the normal salary (and is remunerated above this amount).

Overtime worked by managers

For executives and highly qualified employees (z.B. (chief physicians, auditors, executives, …), those paid by commission or top earners are generally subject to stricter rules. Exclusion of overtime compensation is more likely here. If the contracts are silent on the remuneration of overtime, there is usually no entitlement to remuneration to be assumed.

employer did not agree with the respective overtime

According to the case law of the Federal Labor Court (BAG, Urt. v. 10.04.2013 – Az. 5 AZR 122/12) also requires that the overtime was ordered, approved, tolerated by the employer or necessary for the completion of the work owed. "Voluntary" overtime does not have to be compensated. The extra work must therefore have been either instructed by the employer or at least tacitly accepted afterwards.

3. Can overtime be forfeited after a termination?

No, overtime is not automatically lost upon termination. Employees can generally ask for either a monetary payment or compensatory time off during the notice period, even after you've been fired (more on that below). Contradictory clauses are generally invalid. The same applies here as already for the general exclusion of overtime pay.

However, you should be aware of exclusion periods in the employment or collective agreement (s.u.)!

4. Working off overtime after termination or paying it out

After a termination (whether by the employee or the employer), two options come into consideration for the open overtime:

There will be compensation in money

The amount of the payment is primarily based on the regulations in the employment or collective agreement. Often, overtime premiums are even specified there, according to which overtime is to be remunerated at a higher rate than normal working hours.

If there are no regulations in the contracts, the overtime will be paid at the regular hourly rate. If the hourly wage is not known, it can be calculated as follows:

The hourly wage (gross) is calculated from the monthly/weekly wage:

Monthly salary x 3 : 13 : Number of hours worked per week

Who therefore 3.If the employee works a gross salary of 3000 Euro per month for a working week of 40 hours, the gross salary per hour is 3000 x 3 : 13 : 40 = 17.31 Euro.

The employee receives compensatory time off in the amount of the overtime until the end of the notice period

However, this is only possible if the employee agrees to compensatory time off or if the employment contract/collective agreement provides for a corresponding agreement, z.B. a flexitime regulation. In principle, the employer may determine the location of the time off in lieu – unless the labor or collective bargaining agreement provides otherwise. The same applies to the basic choice as to whether the overtime is celebrated off or compensated in money.

If the employer releases you from work after the notice without pointing out that the overtime will also be compensated with the release, the overtime will remain.

The Federal Labor Court has ruled that the following wording is not sufficient: "You are irrevocably released from the obligation to perform your work duties. Vacation entitlements are granted in kind with the release from work."(BAG, judgment of 20.11.2019, REF: 5 AZR 578/18). The overtime compensation is not mentioned here. The employee can therefore demand payment for the overtime despite being released from work.

If it was contractually agreed that overtime would always be paid out, the employer cannot order that the overtime be deducted if the employee is released from work.

5. If the overtime is mentioned in the termination letter?

If you are giving notice yourself, you can mention the outstanding overtime in your letter of notice. While this is not mandatory, in many cases mentioning the overtime in the termination letter will save you a second letter.

The reason for this is that many labor and collective bargaining agreements stipulate sog. Provide for exclusion clauses. After that, you must assert any outstanding claims with the employer within a fairly short period of time (often six weeks) – and you must do so in writing (s.u.).

The assertion already in the letter of notice makes sense in the first place if you want to receive remuneration in money. If you would like to use your overtime as compensatory time off until the end of the notice period, you can also mention this in the letter of termination. However, it is usually the employer's decision whether to comply with this request. As explained above, it depends on the respective regulation in the employment or collective agreement whether the overtime is paid out or celebrated off.

The letter of termination should include z.B. use this wording to claim your overtime pay:

"With this letter, I am at the same time claiming compensation for overtime worked to date [If possible, refer to list and approval of overtime hours and attach supporting documents]. According to my calculation, the amount is [amount]. Also the remuneration for still resulting overtime I make herewith already valid."

If you still work overtime after the termination, you should ask your employer again in writing for payment of the time after your last day of work.

6. Three important tips for overtime after termination

Employees should take the following tips to heart after a termination in order to protect their overtime claims:

#Tip 1: Attention exclusion period: Act quickly!

Especially after a dismissal, you should check early on how much overtime you are entitled to and by when this should be claimed.

Employment contracts often contain exclusion clauses according to which certain or all claims arising from the employment contract must be asserted within a time limit and then expire. Collective bargaining agreements also often provide for similar provisions. This is important for claiming overtime, as overtime often accumulates over the course of months and is at risk of being forfeited due to an exclusion clause if not claimed in a timely manner.

As a rule, the claim must be made in writing. An exclusion clause often also contains the provision that claims demanded by the employee must be asserted in court in the second step. For this purpose, it is usually sufficient to file an action for protection against dismissal (Bundesarbeitsgericht, Urt. v. 19.03.2008 – Az. 5 AZR 429/07).

After the deadlines have expired, it is worth taking a closer look at the contract: According to the case law of the Federal Labor Court (Urt. v. 28.09.2005 – Az. 5 AZR 52/05) is a clause z.B. Invalid that provides for a preclusion period of less than three months.

#Tip 2: Document overtime

You should keep an accurate record of when you have worked overtime. Because you have to prove in court that the overtime was ordered or at least approved.

A claim before the labor court only has a chance of success if the employee can show exactly when he or she worked which overtime hours and that these were ordered by the employer or. have been accepted retrospectively.

You should therefore prepare precise overviews, records and receipts for overtime and, if possible, have them countersigned by your supervisor. Electronic time recording often exists. It is also possible to call witnesses to prove overtime – however, work colleagues will often be reluctant to testify against their employer.

#Tip 3: Do not sign a compensation declaration

Beware of exclusion declarations. You will destroy the entitlement to overtime pay.

When leaving employment, a compensation receipt is often at issue. The employer usually submits it individually or in connection with a settlement or termination agreement. By signing, the employee declares that all claims arising from the employment relationship are deemed to have been settled upon leaving the employment relationship. Such declarations are hard to challenge in retrospect – those who sign them have (also) legally waived all claims for overtime!

A common formulation is for example: "I confirm that no further claims from and in connection with the employment relationship and its termination, no matter on what legal grounds they are based in detail, whether known or unknown and regardless of when they arose, exist against the company."

7. Conclusion

  • After a dismissal, you only have to work overtime if the employment or collective bargaining agreement or. a company agreement obliges you to do so. Even in emergencies at work, you may have to make a claim in writing. Stay longer.
  • Overtime must generally be compensated. Contrary clauses in the employment contract are usually invalid.
  • If your employer has not authorized "voluntary" overtime, you cannot expect to be paid for it. Managers generally cannot demand payment for overtime work.
  • At the latest after the termination, you should claim the payment of your overtime in writing.
  • Instead of the payout in money is if necessary. also the "Abfeiern" of overtime possible. Prerequisite is that the employee agrees or that the contractual provisions allow it.

They are mainly at night – not infrequently in the car. They feel particularly comfortable in the engine compartment. The talk is of martens. Unfortunately, the animals tend to cause damage by chewing on cables, hoses or insulation, among other things. Annually, according to Statista, almost 200.000 cases of damage caused by marten bites reported to insurance companies. If you do not recognize this damage in time, serious consequential damage up to and including engine damage can occur. We tell you how you can protect your car against damage caused by martens, what costs you will have to bear and what you have to do in case of emergency.

What is marten damage?

Marten damage is the term used to describe damage to a car caused by martens biting cables and hoses in the engine compartment. Especially from the beginning of April to the middle of May, during the mating season, the risk of marten damage by the nocturnal loners is highest. This time is even considered the marten season. Whether ignition cables, power lines or plastic hoses – the small predators stop at nothing when it comes to defending their territory.

Why do martens usually cause damage to the car?

Martens are constantly on the lookout for safe, warm hiding places and occupy a very large territory in the process. Curious and nocturnal, they explore their environment for an optimal shelter that protects them from light and noise. If the rodents find a suitable place in the car, they mark it with their scent mark to defend it against conspecifics. If another marten crosses the territory, it is provoked by the set secretion and attacks the surrounding cables as well as hoses. Only by the neutralization of the scent mark of the rival the animals calm down.

Important: Martens may be caught only by a trained hunter or specialized enterprise.

How to recognize marten damage

If you notice a drop in the performance of your vehicle or if the car indicator lights flash, this can often be an indication of marten damage. Even if there are scratch marks, tufts of hair or footprints on the hood, it is worth taking a look in the engine compartment and, if necessary, visiting a car repair shop. If the car smells of secretions or feces, we strongly recommend that you take it to the nearest automotive repair store.

Tip: If the marten has set its scent mark in the engine compartment, the only thing that will help is a proper engine wash. Learn how to protect the car from the inside& you can wash the outside yourself and remove dirt and bad smells from it.

These are the most common damage caused by martens

As a rule, ignition cables, plastic hoses, rubber sleeves, insulating materials and hoses for the coolant and windshield wiper system are most frequently affected by marten damage to the car. This damage can have immediate and long-term consequences. Acute cases include bitten through ignition cables, which immediately paralyze the car. The auto repair shop simply replaces the cable so that the vehicle is ready to drive again. A severed coolant hose can also be repaired relatively quickly.

If the cable or hose was merely gnawed on, there is often a risk of even more serious consequential damage. If it is a bitten ignition cable, for example, the damage is not always noticed immediately. The engine then runs out of round and the catalytic converter is damaged at the same time, because the fuel is not burned properly.

Important: If the car is damaged by a marten, you should not use it, as this may endanger driving safety.

Which marten protection helps best for marten defense?

For marten defense in the car, there are nowadays some methods that protect against annoying marten bites.

Cable protection

An effective method is the additional protection of cables and hoses by special corrugated hoses, which serve as sheathing. These cannot be bitten through by the marten, but must be professionally fitted in advance at a car repair shop.

Ultrasound

For the sensitive ears of a marten, the ultrasonic method is particularly unpleasant. You can easily install this type of marten deterrent under the hood, so it does not require professional installation. But be careful! Martens get used to certain conditions and sounds very quickly, which causes them to ignore the sounds over time.

Electric shock

The electric shock method uses high-voltage metal plates that deliver light, non-lethal electric shocks when touched. You can easily install these plates in the engine compartment. This frightens the marten and it moves away from there. This solution is not only easy to install, but also helps to keep martens away from the car in the long term.

Home remedy

You can also use products for home use in the fight against martens in the car. Among the most commonly used home remedies as marten protection are, for example, toilet stones or mothballs. However, many people also use dog or cat hair to keep the small predators away from the car.

Scent mark remover

With the help of an anti-marten spray, you can easily remove marten scent marks of a territorial competitor in the entire engine compartment. In addition, these sprays leave behind unpleasant odors and tastes for the marten, which prevents further visits by the animal.

Tip: The combination of a cable protection and the electric shock method is particularly effective for marten defense and is considered the best solution.

What does the car insurance pay in the event of marten damage??

Insofar as contractually covered, the partial cover insurance normally pays for marten damage. In addition, there are supplementary insurances that cover the repair costs for marten and its consequential damages. Such a protection makes sense especially in rural areas, because the cost of a complete engine damage due to a marten bite is often in the five-digit range.

Tips& Tricks for optimal marten defense

The main cause of marten damage is the scent marks of other martens. Already when running over the hood, the animals leave their smell through the scent glands on their feet. Therefore, regular cleaning of the car, including an underbody and engine wash, is only recommended to immediately remove possible marten scent marks and prevent future damage. Nowadays even some manufacturers offer engine compartment bulkheads especially against marten damage as special equipment. Although this method involves a high cost, it saves future high costs in the event of possible marten damage.

Simply away! Out of the daily routine and into a new adventure. Who once got the taste, usually becomes downright addicted to traveling. Because never else do you feel as free and full of drive as when exploring new countries and cultures.

The times you spend traveling will be remembered for the rest of your life. They are those times you will still tell your grandchildren about one day. So if you haven't planned a trip for a while – or even never – it's urgent time (again). With our tips your travel planning will succeed with a minimum of effort and money – so that your next adventure can start shortly.

Every trip is an unforgettable adventure

If you've ever traveled, you know that feeling that creeps up on you a few hours, days, or even weeks before you leave. It's a mixture of anticipation, excitement and perhaps respect – for what you'll experience and the challenges you'll encounter.

Because one thing is for sure: no trip goes smoothly. There is always one or the other obstacle that you have to overcome, either already during the planning or afterwards on site.

Exactly these imponderables are it, however, which let you mature as a person. If you have mastered the challenges, you will be a more confident and independent person afterwards.

"Travel educates", is not without reason a well-known saying. You get to know yourself better, but also a new country, foreign people, exotic cultures and much more. So be it alone, with friends or your partner. Be it to the other end of the world or within Switzerland. Be it for a weekend, a week, a month or a year: every trip is an unforgettable adventure that enriches your life – guaranteed!

No big trip without the right preparation

There are a thousand inspiring reasons to travel. But first and foremost, traveling is simply fun. If you leave your home country every now and then, you can completely switch off from obligations such as job or household and escape from stress.

However, a trip in advance can also mean stress at first. Because it needs to be carefully planned. The longer and farther away you want to travel, the more effort you usually have to put into organizing it. But don't worry: the preparation is worth it, because as soon as you're on the plane, all the stress is forgotten.

So planning is key if you want to go on a major trip. For this reason, the following checklists and tips should help you prepare – whether this is your first trip or you have previous experience, what your destination is, how long you plan to be gone for.

Because what applies to a big trip, you can of course also break down to a smaller trip. In this sense: Have fun planning and especially traveling!

Travel planning made easy: tips and checklists

The first step: free up time

Many people would like to travel more, but there is always a reason that supposedly speaks against their intention: Mostly it is either too little money or too little time. How you can travel as cheap as possible, you will find out later.

But now you have to deal with the time problem first. The first important step is to find a period of time in which you can and want to travel. Sometimes this is quite simple, because you will soon have three months of semester break, six weeks of summer vacation or four weeks of vacation anyway.

In many other cases, however, you will have to actively find the time you need – for example, by cleverly taking advantage of bridge days. However, it is often particularly difficult if you are planning a longer trip that is to last several weeks or even months.

Then maybe your job is getting in the way because you can't take enough paid vacation time. Or you have children who have to go to school. But don't worry, because it is almost always possible to go on a trip. For example, you have the following options:

  • If you have children, you can use the time to travel before they start school. But choose the destinations in such a way that they are safe for the children and, of course, also exciting. This gives you important "quality time" as a family and unforgettable memories.
  • If your children are already of school age, you can align yourself with the vacation periods. Especially in the summer you will have six weeks of free time to explore the world together.
  • For older children who are already more independent, you may be able to travel on your own – without your family. For two, three or even four weeks, they can take care of themselves after a certain age and are often even happy to finally have a "storm-free" day. Supervision is still necessary, so they don't party wildly or get into other mischief. You also need a contact person in case of problems. Depending on your family situation, grandparents or other trusted people may be able to step in during your absence.
  • If your job gets in the way instead or in addition, you can also enjoy various possibilities to free up time for traveling. On the one hand, you can of course simply submit your vacation – after all, you have a certain number of paid vacation days per year at your disposal.
  • If this time is not sufficient for the planned trip, you can also make individual arrangements with your employer. So have a private conversation and ask, for example, about unpaid vacation or the possibility of combining two annual vacations.
  • Models such as a sabbatical or a long-term overtime account are also popular ways to get a little more time off than usual, which you can then use to travel.
  • If, on the other hand, you are still a pupil or student and would like to go abroad for a longer period of time than just the (semester) vacations, you can, for example, do an exchange year, apply for a semester abroad or take a semester off. The options available to you in each case depend primarily on your school or college or university.

So, with a little creativity and courage, it is possible in most life situations to carve out at least a few weeks, or perhaps several months, for travel. If you can't or don't want to do that, you can of course simply use extended weekends or your regular vacation or vacation periods to travel.

However, the rule of thumb is: the shorter the travel time, the closer the destination should be. For a long weekend, for example, a flight to Berlin or Barcelona is worthwhile, but not to Australia, Canada or Thailand.

The second step: Clarify financial issues

Now that you've got the first problem out of the way – the lack of time – there's still the question of money. In some cases, you may continue to receive your regular salary or be able to draw support payments while abroad. So you can continue to cover your running costs and finance your trip from that or from your savings.

By the way, as a rule of thumb, you should always have enough money saved up to book a return flight if necessary. If, on the other hand, your regular income is interrupted during your trip, for example because you are taking unpaid leave, or if you do not yet have your own income, you have the following options:

  • You can work before you travel, for example during the vacations, on weekends or after you graduate from high school, in order to save enough money.
  • Alternatively, you have the possibility to work during the trip. You can rely on classic "Work& Travel" destinations such as Australia and travel from place to place during the trip. Or you can look for a real job at a fixed destination. This can be a part-time job like waitressing, but also a paid internship or something like that. This work experience abroad will also look great on your resume afterwards!
  • It is also helpful to minimize the running costs during your absence. Maybe you can sublet your apartment or sell your car. Also insurances can sometimes be suspended for a longer stay abroad.

If possible, try to reduce your costs during a longer absence – both those for the trip and the running costs at home. Then check if you can cover them from your savings or anticipated income.

If you can't get off the ground financially in this way, you should consider models such as "work&life" Thinking about "travel. Taking out a loan may also be an option for people with steady jobs. And finally, of course, it is important to save as much as possible when traveling.

How to do it? It's simple: You should live as frugally or even more frugally while traveling as you do in your everyday life. It doesn't have to be the expensive luxury hotel, you don't need a massage every day and you don't always have to eat in a restaurant in the evening.

Instead, you can travel on a minimal budget by, for example, booking cheap or even free accommodation, cooking your own meals and using public transport. Of course, if you can afford more luxuries, that's perfectly fine. But if not, this strategy will still allow you to have a great trip on a budget.

Travel planning made easy: tips and checklists

The third step: Rough travel planning

Now that time and money are no longer a problem, the fun part of traveling can begin. Now it's time to plan your trip, at least roughly. So you are spoiled for choice:

  • Where do you want to go?
  • Do you want to stay in one place or make a round trip?
  • How will you get around?
  • What accommodations to choose from?

So now is the time when you need to set the parameters of your trip. How much flexibility you retain is a matter of personal taste. Some people like to book the whole vacation directly, so that they don't have to worry about anything when they get there.

Others prefer to see where their journey will take them, what kind of people they will meet or if they like it so much that they want to stay longer than expected.

It's up to you to decide how precisely you want to plan your trip now. What you should book are your flights and at least the first one or two nights on site. Because one thing is for sure: After a long flight, with a lot of luggage under your arm and a heavy jetlag, you definitely don't feel like looking for a place to sleep.

If, on the other hand, the first one, two or even three days are already planned, you can recover and acclimatize in peace and then set off on the actual trip with fresh energy.

Travel planning made easy: tips and checklists

The fourth step: book cheap flights

As soon as the key dates of your trip are set, you should look for flights. Although there are also always favorable last minute offers. In most cases, however, the earlier you book a flight, the cheaper it is. Depending on where you want to go, you can find a cheap deal by opting for the often unpopular flights with a stopover or an open jaw flight.

Incidentally, the same applies to other types of travel – for example, by train or bus. A certain contingent of particularly cheap tickets is quickly gone after a short time. So here, too, it is a matter of being quick to save costs.

The fifth step: Clarify organizational matters

But before you can actually leave, there are many other organizational to-dos to be checked off in the course of your travel planning. The shorter the trip and the closer the destination, the less planning is usually necessary.

However, if you are leaving for a foreign country or want to stay away for a long time, you will have to put a lot more work into the organization beforehand. So what are the most important points?

  • You'll need to apply for a passport and any required visas in time, depending on your destination. You should allow at least eight weeks for this trip.
  • See a doctor for advice on travel vaccinations. These also need to be done in time. At best, you'll make an appointment with a specialist about twelve weeks before you plan to leave.
  • Also check your insurance coverage. For long journeys or destinations outside the EU you usually need a special foreign health insurance. Trip cancellation or baggage insurance can also be useful – depending on the individual case. In contrast, you may be able to shut down some current insurance policies like auto insurance for the period in question.
  • On your trip you will need money. Simply withdrawing money from an ATM, as in Switzerland, is not always possible (free of charge). For a longer stay, you may need to open a special checking account or apply for a credit card – which can also take several weeks. You should always have cash on you, but only in small amounts. Also find out how the cards are insured against misuse in case of an emergency and directly deposit the blocking numbers in your cell phone.
  • Check if you need further documents for your trip and if so, which ones. You can research such information for example at the Foreign Office.
  • These documents can then be put directly on your packing list. Because also you put on such a best early – so that you do not forget anything important in the stress shortly before departure. So always add to this list as soon as you think of something…

The sixth step: Packing including checklist

…then your packing list should most likely be complete at the time of departure. A basic checklist can be a good starting point for your planned trip. What you really need and what you don't really need depends on your destination, travel time and many other factors. The preparations then include further points:

  • First, pack all the important documents such as your passport, visa, a copy of your vaccination card as well as your identity card, etc. a. You should also always write your flight ticket, booking confirmations for your accommodation and other documents for your trip on your packing list or put them directly in your hand luggage after you receive them.
  • Furthermore you need all documents for your insurances like the health insurance abroad, but also emergency numbers, blocking numbers for bank cards, etc.
  • As mentioned earlier, you'd best save this one into your phone in addition while you're at it. You can also use this opportunity directly to download helpful apps. The little helpers are available for a wide variety of everyday situations on the road. They should be downloaded however best still in the domestic WLAN. Otherwise, costs may arise due to roaming or the WLAN in your accommodation may not be powerful enough for this.
  • After that you pack the appropriate amount of cash. It should be enough for food during the journey, possible expenses like entry fees. It is best to always have some, but never too much, cash in your pocket. As a rule of thumb you can calculate 50 to 200 euros. In addition, of course, you must not forget your bank cards such as the giro or credit card.
  • If you are traveling to a country for which you need a visa, you should always have passport photos in your luggage.
  • Finally, of course, you need all the things for everyday needs such as clothes and cosmetics, your smartphone with charging cable and a possible plug adapter, a first-aid kit with sunscreen or helpful utensils such as needle and thread.
Travel planning made easy: tips and checklists

Also, when packing, pay attention to the regulations in effect at the airport as well as when entering the country in question. In fact, many things you are not allowed to take in your hand luggage or at all. Otherwise you risk penalties like heavy fines or even being denied entry completely.

Sounds stressful? As mentioned earlier, any trip involves some planning. The bigger your project, the more organization is necessary. But you can be sure: All the stress is forgotten as soon as you set foot on the plane. Instead, you will gain an unforgettable life experience that you will certainly never regret. Rather you have to be careful not to get "addicted" to traveling as well. Because: "A long journey does not stop at the destination. A piece of us will always travel on in spirit," Andreas Bechstein once said!

it starts slowly again. Traveling was and is certainly still conditioned by Corona
a little limited. How to travel and where to go? How do I prepare myself and what do I have to pay attention to, so that my vacation remains a dream time?

It is the same for us travel designers.
But what does it help, we want to continue to discover the world or not?? But we would like to travel more consciously and sustainably
and be in harmony with the environment.

So it takes a good preparation and selection of transport and accommodation. So why not book with someone who knows about it? 😉

Mallorca – a great love

Yes it is really like that. Mallorca, the German's favorite island, is also our destination for a short flying visit.

My name is Tanja Wostemeyer and I have been working for the Droste travel agency for some time now and have been able to discover many beautiful places for our customers.

I love this island and have certainly been to Mallorca 50 times and have tested many different accommodation options for our clients, be it beautiful boutique or family hotels, city palaces, fincas or beach resorts.

This time we would like to get a picture of how a stay in Mallorca has changed. Is it really still so beautiful?
Is it not too complicated and at all, how can one be still carefree with all the Corona measures then at all on the way.

My friend Jutta and I are in any case full of beans and are happy to present you our favorite island.

Today we start and choose a relaxed flight in the afternoon with Condor.

We have a really reliable tool in the travel agency Droste that provides our customers with a link at the time of booking that gives perfect information about entry, stay and also everything for the return trip
and re-entry to Mallorca is important.

For each destination, we provide up-to-date information with every click and before booking, of course, we also advise in detail, so that each of our customers is perfectly positioned for their vacation.
Feel virtually taken by the hand and accompanied. My friend Jutta, may also make this experience on this trip and is happy that she does not have to worry about anything.

So whether tested, vaccinated or recovered and with a from 48 h before filled out Spanish electronic health form, the trip can then start.

For Spain, it also makes sense to reserve a seat directly, as this will be requested for the health form.

At the airport Dusseldorf, one should at least. be 2h before departure and in vacation times maybe even half an hour earlier.

Due to Corona, you can't drink your coffee at the airport or have your meal in a cafe, but that might change soon.

Therefore we recommend to arrive already before strengthened at the airport. There is still catering on board but masks are compulsory. Therefore, we think it makes sense that not all guests eat and drink on board and therefore less guests wear your mask.

Of course, aircraft filtration systems are up to date and reduce aerosols on board but the more passengers wear your mask the greater the protection.

By the way, we also advise you exactly how check – in and security control take place and how you arrive on site and what has to be considered.

We would like to tell you about our wonderful local hotels and locations.

Arrived on Mallorca is everything almost as always only a big advantage there Corona conditionally, because all guests are checked in by seat rows and may also get off the plane again. We should definitely continue this process, because it equalizes everything and creates a relaxed atmosphere. Rarely so relaxed when getting off the plane.

We have booked a rental car with full coverage and all insurances. The rental at Hiper Rent a Car takes place in Can Pastilla and the shuttle to there is not far away. Big advantage, prices by shuttle are a lot cheaper than renting directly at the airport.

Advantage, we can board the shuttle bus directly from the airport without any stress. Also there is mask duty and only every 2. Seat is forgiven, so that one also feels comfortable here.

At the check – in of Hiper Rent a Car almost nothing is going on and we can start with our car immediately.

Fully fueled and with the first Spanish music a la Buena Vista Social Club it now goes off in the direction of Palma. We are coming, until you are also ready for us? 🙂

Palma Cityflair and what a former soap factory has to do with it.

Our first destination is the beautiful Concepcio by Nobis Hotel in the northwest corner of Palma. We have found a parking garage nearby that is very cheap and was recommended to us by the hotel.

Of course, as good planners, we have obtained this information in advance, just as we do for our dear clients.

We are received nicely, the staff at the reception is purist dressed in white in linen outfits, in the restaurant they wear a dark green and soft brown. Very tasteful, we love such small details.
After a really charming check – in with first tips we move into our beautiful double room decorated in green colors, air-conditioned and with a nice greeting in the room and the first snack and a bottle of water, which we gratefully accept.

The room is kept in green colors just like the rest of the hotel. The Concepcio by Nobis is a former converted soap factory. Here every room is different because of this. 31 rooms and suites are individually designed with and without balconies but always large windows. Everywhere in the hotel one finds the beautiful green and white self-poured tiles, which set your accents particularly in the baths of the hotel rooms.

We feel comfortable and discover the gem of the house quite quickly, the pool completely surrounded by the hotel creates perfect privacy and is not visible from the outside. Beautifully designed with sandstone and lush
decorated with plants and various pillows create a bohem style. Of course you can also find towels for the guests here.

It is also served at the pool on request, small snacks and or drinks. Here we enjoyed very much a drink or two and let the sun of Palma shine on us.
Also in the evening here is a peaceful atmosphere accompanied by a small watercourse, which gently underlines the evening atmosphere.

Wonderful, you don't want to leave here at all. But the hunger announces itself and it smells wonderfully of Spanish Tapas, which we want to try in any case.

On the first evening we enjoy however equal out a few Tapas not far from the hotel, one is directly urban in the middle of Spain. Everywhere Spanish voices and also locals who are here directly near the hotel
like to spend your time yourself.

Our first night we slept very well and the hotel beds are so comfortable that you have to force yourself to get up.

But our first breakfast was waiting for us and my favorite meal. As an absolute Frahling lover, I am always happy to find new locations for the perfect coffee.
In Concepcio you get in any case one of the best coffees on the island.

Breakfast is set up stylishly on a large wooden table and is lovingly designed. Here one does not splurge with overloaded buffets, but convinces by a loving composition of very good ingredients. Whether it is the perfect Pa amb Oli, which is eaten by the Mallorcans also gladly already for breakfast or the perfect combination of fruits, freshly baked bread, Ensaimada or also other wonderful ingredients, which we appreciate so much at the breakfast.

Well strengthened we discover Palma with its wonderful stores and wonderful studios and hotels.

Leon Lowentraut (Unstoppable), for example, is currently exhibiting in Palma and my friend Jutta just outed herself as a big fan of his exhibitions. Of course, we now have to look at the various galleries, which exhibit all his but also other

works of art. Interspersed with fine little boutiques and beautiful restaurants, Palma has done it again and again we fall in love with this beautiful city again.

The wonderful Concepcio by Nobis serves us as a perfect location for this tour. Since not only rooms, suites and pool convince, but also beside the breakfast the restaurant of the hotel is an absolute highlight.

Moderate prices are estimated in the restaurant for such a high quality cuisine. Here you should also as an out-of-town guest in any case plan a visit to the restaurant.

Center of the island Cap Vermell Grand

Further it goes in the direction of the island center, past Inca and Manacor it goes in the direction of Canyamel in the east of Majorca situated.

Here we set up our camp in the former Park Hyatt. The beautiful resort is now called Cap Vermell Grand, a name to remember, not only because it is part of the prestigious Leading Hotel of the World chain.

The drive up to the hotel past the golf course of the same name is a highlight in itself. A dream of flowers welcomes us here and accompanies us to the top of the hotel.

The Cap Vermell Grand is not directly on the coast, but not far from it. But it is far enough to be able to spend your vacation here privately and undisturbed.

Directly before the entrance we are already taken in reception and our car valet parked. Here you realize already, ok, here we are allowed to be simple and everything else is taken from you.

The check – in works smoothly and we may spend, the really very short time, which we wait outside on the beautiful terrace with view with a first cool non-alcoholic beverage.

Our suite the Valley View has thus with view of the valley is very styleful arranged in bright colors. We have a lot of space here a large square covered terrace, which provides enough shade for hot days.

The bathroom is simply wonderful, here I immediately want to take a bath in the large bathtub, which is also a rain shower and has a floor-to-ceiling window, which is of course shielded from view.

Here 2 persons find much place in addition, children could be accommodated here still.

The Cap Vermell Grand is by no means just a hotel for golfers, even if the course next door is certainly one of the most beautiful on the island.

There is also a country club where sports and children's hearts beat faster. Whether tennis fans or swimming enthusiasts draw your lanes, here everything is possible. There is also a children's club and many opportunities to enjoy activities. In the hotel itself, you will find a SPA, which not only impresses with its architectural beauty, but also allows the visitor to shine and various exquisite beauty treatments possible.

Afterwards you can of course enjoy the culinary variety in one of the restaurants. Whether in the Ballearic, the main restaurant, which also at breakfast makes me as a breakfast lover really happy so also z.B. in Vorro, the fine dining restaurant that is awarded with a Michelin star, so also the ROKA- Japanese Asian fusion cuisine and delicious Sushi. Here you generally have to book very early to get a table.

Here we have of course best contacts, which we use to make you dear customers perfectly happy.

So whether as a family with younger or older children or as a couple or even alone to enjoy a perfect time out the Cap Vermell Grand is an absolute insider tip. By the way, also for company events or with small or larger groups or perhaps a wedding, one is also in perfect hands at the Cap Vermell Grand. We have looked at everything on our siteinspektion and are fully convinced.

Let's talk about why the Cap Vermell Grand is also a must location during your visit to Mallorca.

The combination of Palma city hotel a la Concepcio by Nobis and the Cap Vermell Grand convinced us perfectly.

Finca adventure and east coast

Unfortunately we have to leave already. Only the fact that our vacation is not yet over sweetens the stay for us.

On the way towards Alcudia and we discover the beautiful old town and the nice boutiques and restaurants. Most vacationers hardly make it out of their hotel. A visit to the beautiful old town of Alcudia should be on the program.

Likewise one can eat here wonderfully and favorably for small money and also the port of Alcudia, is in the evening a beautiful walk worth past innumerable boats and jewelry conditions.

Our last location is a family hotel on the east coast, which belongs to the Iberostarhotel chain. There is also an area for adults and the hotel is located directly on the sea on one of the most beautiful sandy beaches on Mallorca. Perfectly in sea quite flat sloping and suitable for families with small children as well as for beach runners. Here we enjoy a few wonderful days relaxing by the sea and in the sun and also make a few trips into the surrounding area.

On the day of departure we get up early and on the way back we visit the beautiful Finca Serena.

This beautiful hotel is also mentioned in any case and also belongs to an exquisite hotel chain, the Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
Very exclusive and far away from the tourist crowds, you can get to know a very different Mallorca here. Alone the Cafe con leche on the terrace with view lets already look on a dreamlike stay. The rooms and suites are very tastefully decorated in muted colors and stand out in a modern way from the rest of the finca, which was built traditionally from the outside out of sandstone.

A dream of flowers show the way to the SPA. Small but nice and with a relaxation room and a view into the nature let you guess the relaxation.

Juan the hotel director of this fine little retreat reads his guests every wish from their lips. Thank you that we were allowed to be there and experience this little jewel through your eyes.

Beachclub and departure

Further it goes then again direction airport. We still have some time and since our rental car company is located in Can Pastilla, we can look at a beach club nearby. Also this belongs to Mallorca.

We visit the PURO Beachclub, which also has a hotel of the same name in downtown Palma. Also by the way a very nice location, which I was allowed to look at on one of my other stays on Mallorca.

Here it is chillig everything in white and black held. There is a central rectangular pool and you can rent daybeds or sunbeds. If you come for dinner at the weekend, you should definitely make a reservation. Today on a Monday but it was relaxed and we could enjoy in peace but at summery 35 degrees our meal.

What a nice ending.

The car drop off on the way back was perfect and we could just leave the car there and thanks to comprehensive insurance no worries and directly without the stress of parking in the shuttle to the airport to climb.

Return flight and departure proceeded here also quite simply. For the customers who have no vaccination still a quick test and off home it goes.

By the way, this went perfectly at the Iberostar Hotel.

But at the moment it is yes every day different and well the one who has a good travel agency and is perfectly advised that must be done at the moment at entry and departure so.

We hope we could make a little appetite for Mallorca. We definitely took home one of the world's best ensaimadas (Mallorcan pastries). But they don't last forever and so we are already planning our next tour. What about you?
